Montpellier-based rock ‘n’ roll enthusiasts Les Lullies have recently unleashed their highly anticipated LP, “Mauvaise Foi,” on Slovenly Recordings International. The band’s latest offering presents a no-frills, fast-paced punk rock sound infused with occasional power-pop elements. Meanwhile, “Ville Musée” delves into the impact of gentrification, lamenting the loss of vibrant nightlife and a sense of belonging in cities increasingly tailored for tourists.
One standout moment on the album is the band’s punk/power-pop version of Jackie DeShannon’s “When You Walk in the Room,” originally covered by The Searchers. The only track sung in English, it serves as a sweet candy treat for the ears, showcasing Les Lullies’ ability to infuse their own energy and style into beloved classics.
