What To Expect From 47 Meters Down 3

What’s the status of 47 Meters Down 3? In 2017, British filmmaker Johannes Roberts released the firs 47 Meters Down, with new installment hitting theaters two years later in August 2019, titled 47 Meters Down: Uncaged. Both films were written by Robert and Ernest Riera, and co-produced by James Harris and Mark Lane.

In the original 47 Meters Down, sisters Lisa (Mandy Moore) and Kate (Claire Holt) struggle to maintain their sanity after being trapped underwater amongst sharks. 47 Meters Down: Uncaged tells an entirely new story as its characters explore an underwater city. The series premise is based on sharks attacking humans, and how deep aquatic immersion affects human communication and perceptions. 47 Meters Down: Uncaged stars Nia Long, Sophie Nélisse, and Brianne Tju, along with Corinne Foxx – the daughter of Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx  – and Sistine Rose Stallone – the daughter of movie icon Sylvester Stallone and actress Jennifer Flavin. Both Foxx and Stallone make their big-screen debuts.

Produced for just $5.3 million, the original 47 Meters Down earned over $56 million at the box office. Based on moviegoers’ infatuation with shark movies, it seems likely that 47 Meters Down: Uncaged will be another commercial success. Here’s what to expect for 47 Meters Down 3.
Given 47 Meters Down: Uncaged’s August 2019 release date, it’s unlikely that a third installment will be greenlit before the end of the summer. Most likely, the producers will wait two to three months to assess box office numbers. For comparison, 47 Meters Down released on June 12, 2007, and the sequel was announced three months later.
47 Meters Down: Uncaged released two years after the first after a pretty standard production time. Assuming that a third movie in the franchise is announced by late 2019 and follows a similar development timeline, then 47 Meters Down 3 will most likely release during Summer 2021.
