**1. PIUM: Hey Kimberly! Your art is amazing, seriously. How do your different cultural influences inspire your creative process?**

Kimberly: Before I create, I pray. This brings me close to God, and from there, I try to take myself out of it. Then I can create something amazing. I feel that I’m in touch with the colors because of my Native American side and African roots. I love color. I love a 3-dimensional look. I started to add a different layer look in the late 90’s.

**2. PIUM: Embedding jewelry into oil paintings—what sparked that idea, and how does it enhance your artistic vision?**

Kimberly: I love sparkle anything, so I thought it would bring the painting alive with sparkle and shine.

**3. PIUM: Being VP and Art Curator for Festival Sundiata is impressive! How does art contribute to celebrating diversity in such big multicultural events?**

Kimberly: Art is vital in all cultures! It describes all emotions and love with each culture.

**4. PIUM: Going back to your track and field days, how did early success in athletics lead you to the world of art and fashion?**

Kimberly: Track, basketball, and gymnastics helped me to compete against myself. Athletics has helped me focus. Dyslexia is tough on a world that is shaped for one-way learning. Art has helped me escape that world and go into my soul and find peace.

**5. PIUM: Dealing with dyslexia is tough. How has it shaped your art, and any advice for others facing similar challenges?**

Kimberly: School was a nightmare until art and PE. Art has helped me escape that world and go into my soul and find peace.

**6. PIUM: Leaving a successful track career for art and fashion is a bold move. What made you take that leap, and how has it changed your life?**

Kimberly: I thought it would be a great art show to add a fashion show along with. And it was. I plan to open an art gallery and continue to sculpt and paint.

**7. PIUM: Art and fashion—how do they come together for you, and what message do you convey through your shows?**

Kimberly: Nor fashion or beauty was never far from my mind. I worked for all the modeling agency in Seattle. I loved to have a new model start and see them grow into a confident young women. It was awesome.

**8. PIUM: What’s next for Kimberly Phillips? Any exciting projects or new ventures?**

Answer: I plan to open an art gallery and continue to sculpt and paint.

**9. PIUM: Mentoring aspiring models is wonderful. How do you see your role in shaping their future, and any advice for them?**

Kimberly: I loved to have a new model start and see them grow into a confident young women. It was awesome.
