Kevin Hart has taken legal action against Tasha K, a controversial YouTuber, for alleged extortion. Tasha K purportedly threatened to release an interview featuring Hart’s former assistant unless he met her demands for payment.
As reported by Page Six, an individual associated with Tasha K, also known as Latasha Kebe, allegedly demanded $250,000 to withhold the interview conducted with Miesha Shakes in November. The warning conveyed that Shakes had divulged information during the conversation concerning Hart’s business affairs and his marriage to Eniko Hart, which could significantly damage his reputation.
Kebe further amplified the situation by sharing a 13-minute preview of the contentious interview. In the teaser, at the 10-minute mark, Shakes hinted at the importance of revealing the story to Hollywood, especially for individuals restricted by non-disclosure agreements, emphasizing the need for protection.
Allegedly, Hart took swift action by involving authorities and issuing a cease-and-desist order to Kebe, contending that Shakes had previously signed both a non-disclosure agreement and a confidentiality contract during her employment with the actor-comedian. However, on December 22, the interview became accessible on Kebe’s subscription-based website.
Additionally, Shakes faces legal repercussions, including accusations of extortion, invasion of privacy, breach of contract, and defamation brought forward by Hart. Shakes claimed that Hart engaged in habitual infidelity and struggled with a gambling addiction.
Hart’s legal team highlighted Kebe’s history of publishing “defamatory and otherwise inappropriate content” concerning various high-profile individuals, citing the case involving Cardi B. Kebe was previously ordered to pay a $4 million settlement to Cardi B in a defamation lawsuit filed in 2019, where the rapper accused the YouTuber of orchestrating a damaging campaign against her reputation.
Despite Kebe filing for bankruptcy subsequent to the legal ruling, a judge mandated that she is still responsible for fulfilling the settlement payment.
