“If You Were My Loving Girl” by The Al Ur Pal Project feat. The Asidors
A real review. From someone who felt it.
💿 Wow…Okay, I have to be honest — from the very first line, this song caught me off guard (in the best way).
“If You Were My Loving Girl” isn’t just a song — it feels like someone is opening up their heart right in front of you. It’s soft. It’s honest. It’s got a groove. It’s the kind of track you play while driving at night, thinking about someone you love (or used to love)… not to cry, but to remember. To reflect. To feel.
Let’s be clear — this isn’t a slow jam. It’s a smooth mid-tempo track with just the right bounce to get your head nodding and your heart open. It brings that unmistakable 90s R&B Vibe — the kind of vibe that’s romantic, warm, and real.
The Voices That Carry the Soul
The vocals? All performed by The Asidors — and they are phenomenal. Known for their gospel-soul harmonies, they bring pure emotion to every line. The lead vocal is heartfelt and vulnerable, full of longing and sincerity — like someone finally admitting what’s been on their heart for too long.
You can hear the experience in their performance — they’re not just singing notes. They’re telling a story.
Crafted by a Team of Masters
Al Wordlaw, the creative force behind The Al Ur Pal Project, is the writer and producer of this track. His vision is all over this — from the message to the mood. It’s clear he’s someone who understands the heart of R&B and how to make a song feel like something.

- 🎹 Hiroshi Upshur handled the keyboard and arrangement — and his touch is masterful. The chords flow like emotion. The arrangement gives the song room to breathe and space to connect.
- 🎸 Josh Sklair adds a gorgeous layer with his guitar work — subtle, soulful, and perfectly placed. It gives the track that extra sparkle without ever stepping on the vocals.
- 🎛️ Michael B. Sutton, a true Motown legend, mixed the song to perfection. Everything sounds warm, clean, and balanced. The vocals sit beautifully in the mix, the instruments complement one another, and nothing is overdone. It’s just… right.
Lyrics That Linger
“If you were my loving girl, you would be my whole wide world…”
Simple? Yes. But powerful. If you’ve ever loved someone and just wanted them to see what they meant to you — this line hits hard. It’s not flashy. It’s real. And sometimes, real is all we need.

💜 Favorite Moment?
That chorus.
It has that hopeful, arms-wide-open energy — like someone finally ready to love fully, if only they’re given the chance. You feel both the strength and the vulnerability in the delivery. That’s rare. That’s beautiful.
Bottom line:
This song captures everything we love about the 90s R&B Vibe — smooth melodies, emotional honesty, thoughtful production, and powerful vocal delivery. It’s not chasing trends. It’s not trying to be flashy. It’s just real music from real people with real soul.
So yeah… wow. I didn’t expect to fall in love with this track today. But I did.
And if it moves you like it moved me — support it. These indie artists are creating magic that deserves to be heard.
