3 Ways To Make Employee Break Times Better

When an employee can take a productive break, they’re going to do even more productive work for you. However, this is a simple fact a lot of employers can forget about! Break times are usually rushed, handed out in a halfhearted manner, and simply not taken seriously. That’s no way to reward the people who ensure your projects are completed on time!

Really, the better a break time is, the better your employee is going to regard the work they do. They’ll put a lot more in, because they know their time and needs aren’t taken for granted. And because of that, it’s worth looking into ways to make your employees’ break times the best they could possibly be. As such, here are a few break time boosters to think about.

Create a Comfortable Seating Area

When the seating area is comfortable, your employees are going to want to get away from their desks to use it. They won’t have to leave the office to find somewhere to take a seat and have a breather, and that can make getting back to work all the more easier on everyone.

Plus, it’s just nice to have somewhere comfortable to chat with your coworkers. It creates a more amenable, friendly atmosphere within the workplace, especially if there’s enough seating to go round.

Try to fit some sofa seats into your break room, and aim for some ergonomic varieties that’ll help to prevent back pain from settling in.

Stock Up the Break Room

What do you keep in the break room within your workplace? If there’s only the basics, like a table and chairs, or a microwave for employees to heat their lunches with, we highly recommend adding a few more things.

After all, the break room not only needs to be comfortable, but it also needs to be properly functional too.

This means stocking your cupboards with food items like protein bars, trail mix bags, and various easy energy snacks. You should also think about setting up a coffee machine, getting in touch with a high quality coffee distributor for it, and providing some of the best cuppas without any employee having to run down the street to a cafe!

Make Them Longer

Longer break times will always be appreciated. If your employees usually get only 10 minutes to themself either before or after lunch, why not double the time they can take?

10 more minutes will be massive to them, but it won’t take much time away from your working day either. That can lead to much happier employees in the long run; they no longer have to rush to get to the coffee machine!

Employee break times need to be quality. They need to be something your employees can look forward to taking, and can do so in a way that suits their needs. The workplace can feel stuffy enough as is – don’t let professionalism prevent you from creating a break room that’s good for everyone!
