DYLI takes advantage of her space provided by R&B elements and shows a creativity unburdened by genre constraints. If this artist’s name isn’t familiar to you, then her sound definitely will be. A pulsing song of deep affection that sounds like nothing else, “18+” features sun-soaked textures, a smoky voice and a mood that invites a lover to “stay a little longer” on the after-hours lounge. It takes some time for the laid-back beat to grown on you but its sway of smooth vibration makes it certain there’s plenty of it to go around. Through her brand of R&B, the Stockton, CA native, puts her own infectious, modern twist on the record.

The rangy soul of the song comes from her distinctive storytelling and point of view, not to mention her attractive voice, which feels intimate and real but also stirs your imagination with wild, alluring fantasies.

It’s a prime showcase for DYLI ’s melodic flow and mellow croon, seamlessly bringing together all of her influences. By the same token, nothing can get in the way of an artist who can put forth an affecting message with just her voice alone.
